Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase as a hematopoietic cell marker.
نویسنده
چکیده
Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) is an intracellular protein characteristic of certain primitive lymphocytes in normal thymus and bone marrow. It can be detected by enzyme assay or immunocytochemical staining. High levels of enzyme and increased numbers of TdT+ cells are found in some lymphoblastic leukemias and lymphomas. Analysis for TdT thus provides a useful adjunct in the differential diagnosis of leukemia.

Track detection on the cells exposed to high LET heavy-ions by CR-39 plastic and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)
Background: The fatal effect of ionizing radiation on cells depends on Linear Energy Transfer (LET) level. The distribution of ionizing radiation is sparse and homogeneous for low LET radiations such as X or γ, but it is dense and concentrated for high LET radiation such as heavy-ions radiation. Material and Methods: Chinese hamster ovary cells (CHO-K1) were exposed to 4 Gy Fe-ion 2000 keV/...

Although leukocytes from all 13 acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients examined had high terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (terminal transferase) activity (20 to 100 units/mg of cellular DNA, where 1 unit equals 1 nmole of nucleotide polymerized in 1 hr) and those from 21 acute myelocytic leukemia patients had low terminal transferase activity (0.2 to 2 units/mg of cellular DNA), the bone ma...
متن کاملTerminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase in normal and neoplastic hematopoietic cells.
In 1973 we first reported our finding of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferasc(TdT) in the circulating leukemic cells of a diild with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (1). Until that time this unique DNA synthetic enzyme had been thought to be a Special biochemical property of cells undergoing maturation in the thymus (2). Its presence in circulating lymphoblastic leukemia cells suggested that the ...
متن کاملP-20: Efficiency of Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting System in Separation of Normal Sperm
Background Sperm preparation before assisted reproductive techniques is very important for obtaining successful fertilization and pregnancy. During ICSI technique, sperms are selected based on viability and morphology. But this selection did not guarantee integrity of sperm DNA. Therefore, novel sperm selection procedures are introduced for selection of sperm with low DNA damage. One of these p...
متن کاملSerial observations on terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity and lymphoblast surface markers in acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity and cell surface markers were measured in peripheral lymphoid cells from 27 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in various phases of their disease. Lymphoblasts from untreated patients had smooth surface ultrastructure but heterogeneous surface receptors. Greater than 60% of lymphoblasts from 4 to 7 untreated patients formed rosettes with sh...
